Areas we serve
Dentist in Woodvale
An established practice for an established suburb, where the same dentists see you year after year.
Woodvale has been settled a good deal longer than the suburbs north of it, and the dentistry follows the housing. Crowns fitted twenty years ago need reviewing. Bridges need maintaining. Dentures need relining rather than replacing, and usually earlier than people expect.
That kind of work rewards continuity more than almost anything else in dentistry. A dentist who fitted the crown, or who has watched it for a decade, is making a different decision from one meeting it cold in a ten minute appointment.
None of it needs doing at once, either. Older work tends to fail slowly and visibly, so the useful thing is a plan with an order to it: what needs attention now, what can reasonably wait a year, and what only needs watching. You should leave the first appointment knowing which is which, and what each of them costs.
The same practice in ten years
We are family owned, and the point of that is longevity rather than sentiment. Records stay in one place, the same people read them, and a problem gets measured against how it looked last time instead of described from scratch.
Crowns, bridges, dentures and implants under one roof

Questions we get from Woodvale
- Can an old crown be repaired rather than replaced?
- Sometimes. It depends on the tooth underneath rather than the crown itself, which is what the examination and the X-ray are for. We will tell you which it is, and what each costs, before starting anything.
- Can dentures be relined instead of remade?
- Often, yes. Gums change shape over the years and the denture stops fitting the mouth it was made for. A reline restores the fit for considerably less than a new set.
- Can you get my records from my previous dentist?
- Yes, with your written consent. Old X-rays are genuinely useful on work like this, because they show how something has changed rather than only how it looks today.
- Is it worth keeping a tooth that has already had a lot of work?
- Often, yes, and it is a judgement rather than a rule. What decides it is how much sound tooth remains, whether the root is healthy, and how it sits in the bite. We will show you the X-ray and give you a straight view, including when the honest answer is that the tooth has reached the end and the money is better spent elsewhere.
- Do gums need different care as you get older?
- More attention rather than different care. Gums recede over decades, which exposes root surfaces that have no enamel on them and decay considerably faster than the crown of the tooth. That is why root decay is a common finding after sixty and almost unheard of at twenty, and why cleaning right at the gum line matters more each decade.
- Several medications have left me with a dry mouth. Does that matter?
- A great deal, and it is worth raising rather than living with. Saliva is what neutralises acid and remineralises enamel, so without enough of it decay accelerates sharply. Bring a list of what you take. There are practical measures that help, and knowing about it changes what we watch for and how often we want to see you.
