Dentist in Lexia
The nearest practice to Lexia, with a reminder before every check-up so you do not have to keep track of when the next one is due.
Lexia is smallholdings and market gardens rather than streets of houses, and there is no dental practice in it. We are the closest, west along the Hocking side.
Living out that way changes one thing more than any other. In a built-up suburb you drive past a dental practice most weeks, and the prompt to book is built into the drive. Out here there is no such prompt, so it has to come from somewhere else.
So we do the reminding. Every patient is put on recall, and you get a message before you are due rather than a year after you were. It is a small piece of administration that decides more dentistry than most of what happens in the chair.
You will not be passing, so we will remind you
Nearly every long gap between check-ups starts the same way: nothing was wrong, nobody prompted, and a year went by. The reminder is the whole intervention.

Questions we get from Lexia
- Will you remind me when I am due?
- Yes. Everyone goes on recall and gets a message before the appointment is due. If a phone number or email changes, tell reception, because a reminder sent to an old number is the most common reason a recall silently stops working.
- Can I book the next one as I leave?
- That is the most reliable way to do it, and it is worth doing for the appointments that are hardest to get: 8am, Saturdays and the two late nights. Book six months out and you get your pick.
- What if I have missed several?
- Then book an examination and nothing else. We will look, tell you what is there, and put it in an order. Nobody will comment on the gap.
- How do the reminders come through?
- Before each recall is due, to whatever contact details we hold. If your mobile or email changes, tell us, because a reminder sent to an old number never arrives and neither of us finds out.
- Can I be reminded less often if I would rather?
- Yes, and you can opt out entirely. It is a courtesy rather than an obligation, and reception can set it to suit you.
- Is it worth ringing ahead if I am coming a long way?
- Always, and particularly if anything has changed since you booked. Reception can confirm the appointment is still as planned and how long to allow, which is worth two minutes on the phone against a forty-minute drive.
