Getting in touch
Before you call or write
- What is the fastest way to reach you?
- The telephone, by a wide margin. Reception answers throughout the day and can triage, check a health fund, or find a cancellation while you are on the line. The enquiry form is for things that can wait until the next working day.
- Should I describe my symptoms in the enquiry form?
- Please do not. Health information carries elevated obligations under the Privacy Act, and a website form is not the right place for it. Give us your name, your contact details and a general enquiry, and we will ring you to discuss anything clinical.
- How quickly do you reply to online enquiries?
- Usually within one working day. If something has broken, is swelling or is keeping you awake, do not wait for a reply — ring us.
- Is the practice accessible for a wheelchair or a walking frame?
- Ring us before your appointment and tell us what you need. It is far easier to plan the right room and enough time in advance than to work it out at the door, and we would much rather have that conversation on the phone first.
- Can I email a photograph of a broken tooth?
- It rarely helps as much as people hope — a photograph cannot show what is under the gum or inside the tooth, which is where the answer usually is. Ring instead and describe it; reception will tell you how urgently you need to be seen.
- Do you take walk-ins?
- Ringing first is always better, because it lets us tell you whether there is room today and what to do in the meantime. If you turn up in genuine pain we will do what we can, but you may wait, and there may be a better answer than waiting.
